While accompanying David A. Ross, curator of the Long Beach Museum of Art, to the inauguration of an international restrospective of video tapes and video installations entitled Project ’74 in Cologne, Viola makes the acquaintance of Maria Gloria Bicocchi who had set up her own video art studio called art/tapes/22 in Florence the previous year. Ross advises her to hire Viola to work there.
