Ai Weiwei enrols in Parsons New School for Design in Greenwich Village, studying with Sean Scully and others, but drops out after six months. He also studies at the Art Students League in New York with Richard Pousette-Dart, Bruce Dorfman and Knox Martin. He visits museums and galleries and is influenced by such artists as Marcel Duchamp, Andy Warhol and Jasper Johns.
