Speak loud / Parla forte – Helen Frankenthaler: Painting Without Rules Learning italian through art

Art exhibitions are a place in which to confront the history of the past and delve into the present, they are the space in which to live an engaging aesthetic experience, and they can also turn into a stimulating context for learning a foreign language.

Speak loud / Parla forte is the project that the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi dedicates to all those who are studying Italian and want to experience the context of an exhibition in order to express themselves freely, learn new vocabulary and rework the linguistic knowledge acquired in the classroom through a direct experience with art.

The activity is divided into two parts: an introductory part dedicated to creating the ideal setting for discussion and sharing words to work on in the exhibition, and a second part that takes place in the exhibition, in front of Helen Frankenthaler’s large abstract paintings. The journey through the works in the exhibition Helen Frankenthaler: Painting Without Rules offers the opportunity to talk about our emotions, our relationship to art and culture, and our everyday experiences, using new and old vocabulary.

The activity is adapted to each group’s language skills. When booking, the teacher receives preparation materials to be used in the classroom before the experience at Palazzo Strozzi.
