The exhibition Anish Kapoor. Untrue Unreal represents an opportunity to come into direct contact with Anish Kapoor’s art in its versatility, discordance, entropy and ephemerality.
The project offers an opportunity to discover a long career through historical and recent works, including a new production specifically created in dialogue with the architecture of the Renaissance courtyard. Palazzo Strozzi becomes a concave and convex place, integral and fragmented at the same time in which visitors are called to question their senses.
The visit dedicated to students of universities and art academies develops through an analysis of the forms, colors and materials that recur in Kapoor’s artistic language, such as wax, pigment, red, concavities, and continues through unexpected visual effects capable of questioning our way of perceiving reality. The materiality-abstraction dichotomy occurs throughout the exhibition in a constant play of juxtapositions, as in the case of Angel (1990) where large slate stones seem to turn into enigmatic fragments of blue sky.
The itinerary is divided through the rooms of the Piano Nobile; the large installation Void Pavilion VII for the courtyard of Palazzo Strozzi can be visited independently at the end of the tour.
