Palazzo Strozzi and Collezione Maramotti present Time for Women!, an exhibition celebrating the 20th anniversary of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women, one of the most significant awards dedicated to supporting female-identifying artists, created as a collaboration between Max Mara, Whitechapel Gallery, and Collezione Maramotti. The show will present the works of the nine artists who have won the prize since its inception in 2005: Margaret Salmon (1958, Australia), Hannah Rickards (1978, UK), Andrea Büttner (1972, Switzerland), Laure Prouvost (1978, France), Corin Sworn (1971, UK), Emma Hart (1982, UK), Helen Cammock (1977, UK), Emma Talbot (1983, UK), and Dominique White (1993, UK).

Established as a collaboration between Max Mara, Whitechapel Gallery, and Collezione Maramotti, the Max Mara Art Prize for Women is a biennial award dedicated to female-identifying artists. The winners are granted a six-month residency in Italy, during which they focus on research for a new project that is later exhibited at Whitechapel Gallery in London and Collezione Maramotti in Reggio Emilia.

The exhibition in Florence, in the Strozzina’s galleries at Palazzo Strozzi, pays tribute to two decades of artistic innovation and female creativity, presenting, for the first time together, the projects conceived by the nine winning artists following their long residencies in Italy—a key aspect of the prize. Paintings, videos, sculptures, and installations will alternate in a journey reflecting on themes such as identity, memory, the body, society, and politics.

Time for Women! Empowering Visions in 20 Years of the Max Mara Art Prize for Women is promoted and organized by Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi and Collezione Maramotti. Main Sponsor: Max Mara.
Special thanks to Whitechapel Gallery.
