From 20 October 2017 to 21 January 2018 the Strozzina undercroft will be hosting Radical Utopias, an exhibition – produced and organised by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, the Fondazione CR Firenze and the Osservatorio per le Arti Contemporanee – celebrating the outstanding creative season enjoyed by the radical movement in Florence in the 1960s and ’70s.
The exhibition will be bringing together for the very first time in a single venue the visionary work of such groups and figures as Archizoom, Remo Buti, 9999, Gianni Pettena, Superstudio, UFO and Zziggurat, in a kaleidoscopic dialogue between objects of design, videos, installations, performances and narratives illustrating another possible world: a critical utopia that had the merit of smashing the status quo of the period, turning Florence into the focal point of a revolution in thinking that had a profound impact on the development of art at the global level.
The exhibition is produced and organized by the Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi, Fondazione CR Firenze, Osservatorio per le Arti Contemporanee
With the support of the Comune di Firenze, Camera di Commercio di Firenze, Associazione Partners Palazzo Strozzi, Regione Toscana
With the collaboration of the Canadian Centre for Architecture (CCA)
