200 models by international designers from the permanent collection of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA), will be on display in Palazzo Strozzi. This building, a masterpiece of Italian
Renaissance architecture, is situated right in the heart of the city and opens onto Piazza Strozzi and Via Tornabuoni. Palazzo Strozzi is now set to become the cultural platform for the city of Florence.
The 4 sections of the exhibition (construction, form, materials, concept) show how far traditional concepts of style and fashion have been changed. These designers make it clear that fashion is not just a way of interpreting the world but also a record of cultural and social change. Conventional ideas about beauty have been overturned and questions asked about the whole concept of taste. These creations have set in motion a new way of thinking, and overturned the old rules regarding shape, proportion and models.
