Nuances is a scheme targeting autistic youngsters and adults developed by Palazzo Strozzi in conjunction with the Associazione Autismo Firenze. It is aimed at centres and associations working in autism-related contexts.
The activities, in the shape of tours with small groups of people, will be held both in the exhibition rooms and in the Maria Manetti Shrem Educational Center. The tour of the exhibition will take in a selection of works of art. Various forms of non-verbal interaction and sensory experiences will be proposed during the tour to foster interaction with the artworks and to encourage participants to voice their own opinion.
The exhibition Tracey Emin. Sex and Solitude presents sensitive content such as the representation of sexuality and the body combined with themes such as loneliness, pain, abortion and death. Therefore, it is planned a presentation meeting to visit the exhibition and consider the possibility of a group visit. The meeting is dedicated to social and health workers (educators, psychologists and therapists) working in autism-related centres and associations.
Presentation meeting
The presentation meeting will be held at Palazzo Strozzi on Wednesday 16 April from 3.00 to 4.30 p.m. and reservations are required.
You must attend the introductory meeting if you wish to take part in the scheme.
To help with planning tours, carers are offered materials such as a sensory map of the exhibition and a social history containing information on the premises and on the works of art on display.
