As part of the Palazzo Strozzi Future Art program, in collaboration with the Fondazione Hillary Merkus Recordati, Palazzo Strozzi presents a spectacular site-specific installation in the Renaissance courtyard, created by the Dutch artist duo DRIFT. Renowned for their installations, artworks, and performative projects that merge art and technology, DRIFT offers a new perspective on the interaction between humans, nature, and space.

The installation invites visitors to reimagine the historical context of Palazzo Strozzi as a place of contemporary exploration. Each visitor becomes an active protagonist in an immersive and multisensory experience that encourages a reflection on our relationship with nature and the space around us. The courtyard transforms into a stage where art, science, and technology engage in a poetic and captivating dialogue.

Collaboration, technological experimentation, and the blending of disciplines are key elements in DRIFT’s work. The duo works closely with scientists, programmers, musicians, dancers, and other visual artists to create works that explore themes such as the interaction between nature and technology, the relationship between knowledge and intuition, and the dialogue between science and poetry.

Established in Amsterdam in 2007 by Lonneke Gordijn and Ralph Nauta, DRIFT is known for its interactive installations that intertwine environmental themes, human nature, and technology. Their works, often inspired by natural phenomena, offer poetic and meditative experiences, inviting the public to reflect on the relationship between the individual and the collective, as well as the impact of technology on society.

DRIFT’s work is based on continuous research and experimentation, collaborating with experts from various fields to create immersive and encompassing projects. Their goal is to create a dialogue between opposites: nature and artifice, science and poetry, offering a new vision of the world through art.
