A moment of debate and conviviality on the shores of the lake at Argingrosso for a total immersion in the area’s complex ecosystem.
A minor ecosystem has sprouted in a small artificial lake, or pond, on the banks of the Arno in the Isolotto neighbourhood, with mallard ducks and other birds coexisting alongside acclimatised tropical tortoises, both of them considered invasive alien species subject to legislation aiming to eradicate them. Yet their presence has become a social catalyst and micro-relationships are forged daily between people bringing their leftover food to feed the coypus, between the coypus and the ducks, and between the ducks and the people, while the tortoises silently observe all these goings-on at water level.
To tie in with the Eco-existences: forms of the natural and the artificial exhibition (in conjunction with IED Firenze’s Master’s in Curatorial Practice) Leone Contini has embarked on an investigation in this unique spot, collecting documents, visual and sound material to share with the public in a fully-fledged collective interspecies ritual.

Biography
Leone Contini studied philosophy and cultural anthropology at Siena University. His research places him on the borderline between art and ethnographical work. His practices include lecture-cum-performances, interventions in public spaces and exhibitions, text and audiovisual narratives, installations and drawings. In recent years he has held exhibitions or produced interventions at: MADRE, Naples; Pearl Art Museum, Shanghai; Kunstverein Solothurn; Maxxi, Rome; Centre Pompidou (as part of the Cosmopolis programme), Paris; SAVVY, Berlin; PAV, Turin; IAC, Villeurbanne; Manifesta 12, Palermo; Fondazione Sandretto, Turin; Muciv, Rome; Mudec, Milan; Quadriennale, Rome; Fondazione Pistoletto, Biella; Mart, Rovereto; Biennale D-0 Ark Underground, Bosnia; Delfina Foundation, London; Kunstraum Munich; Khoj, New Delhi; Galleria Civica, Trento; Kunstverein Amsterdam; Museo Pecci, Prato; and Villa Romana, Florence.
