To tie in with the Columbia Threadneedle Prize 2016 @ Palazzo Strozzi, contemporary artists Caterina Sbrana, Andrea Lunardi and Nicola Toffolini will be sharing their artistic experience in the course of three workshops held in Palazzo Strozzi’s Strozzina and open to anyone interested in taking part.
Sharing an imagination that finds its source of constant inspiration in the forms of nature and of the landscape, the three artists also share a modus operandi in which the manual, hands-on aspect and in-depth familiarity with – and mastery of – materials and techniques play as important a role as conceptual thought.
Sbrana, Lunardi and Toffolini will be teaching participants how to translate a thought or an idea, through the practice of drawing, painting and installation work, into the complete development of a project in which theory and practice are the inseparable parts of a single whole.
Attending all three workshops is an ideal way of developing in-depth knowledge of a range of artistic techniques by sharing in the three different artists’ practical, hands-on experience.
The workshop is free of charge but reservations are required.
You can attend one workshop, two workshops, or all three if you wish.
Maximum number of participants: 15 people per workshop.
WHO CAN SIGN UP FOR A WORKSHOP?
Anyone who wants to know what it means to actually implement an art project.
Young artists, creative people, probing minds, or teachers interested in sharing a working experience with three artists.
No specialist or even basic knowledge is required.
The workshops are open to adults aged 18 and over.
WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME?
Imagination, inquisitiveness and the desire to create.
You will also need a digital camera or a smartphone.
The artists themselves will be providing all the materials that their workshops require.
HOW ARE THE WORKSHOPS GOING TO PAN OUT?
The three workshops will be held over three weekends in July.
The workshops will alternate work in the Strozzina with work in the city, because each artist has planned an exploration of certain places in Florence or its hinterland to collect visual material and stimuli for the work in hand
